Ditch Mitch Fund Launches New Radio & Digital Ad Buy Against McConnell Over Broken Promises to Coal Miners
New ad highlights how McConnell let funding for black lung health care be cut in half, giving a tax break to coal companies instead of taking care of Kentucky miners
WASHINGTON, DC – The Ditch Mitch Fund just launched new digital and radio ads against Senator Mitch McConnell over his broken promise to renew funding for the Black Lung Disability Trust Fund.
The ad, entitled “Mitch’s Millions,” details the over $5.3 million that the coal mining industry has given McConnell and his Washington allies, before charging that “Mitch’s Millions come at a price.”
“McConnell promised to take care of miners with deadly black lung disease,” the ad continues. “Then he allowed the funding for black lung health care to be cut in half – giving a tax break to coal companies instead of taking care of Kentucky miners.”
The Ditch Mitch Fund is putting over six-figures behind the new ads, which are running state-wide digitally and airing on radio in Kentucky.
“Mitch McConnell isn’t looking out for Kentucky’s coal miners in Washington,” said Ryan Aquilina, Executive Director of the Ditch Mitch Fund. “The only people Mitch McConnell is taking care of are himself and his corporate special interest donors. In 2020, Kentucky miners are ready to Ditch Mitch.”
The Ditch Mitch Fund, started in October 2018, is a grassroots-funded organization that is solely dedicated to holding Mitch McConnell accountable, supporting his Democratic opponent, and defeating McConnell once and for all in 2020. To date, the Ditch Mitch Fund has raised over $4 million with an average gift of $23.
