Ditch Mitch Fund Statement About Amy McGrath’s Entry Into the Kentucky Senate Race Against Mitch McConnell
Executive Director Ryan Aquilina: “We are ALL-IN for Amy McGrath.”
WASHINGTON, DC – Following Amy McGrath’s entry into the Kentucky Senate race against Mitch McConnell, Ditch Mitch Fund Executive Director Ryan Aquilina issued the following statement:
“We are ecstatic that our efforts to help recruit Amy McGrath into the race were successful. Our efforts have enlisted tens of thousands of donors, and we are just getting started. Our grassroots support has sent a clear message – there is a real hunger to defeat Mitch McConnell once and for all. McConnell has been in Washington far too long, putting his own interests and those of his special interest corporate donors ahead of the people of Kentucky.”
“Amy McGrath is Democrats’ best chance to take on Mitch McConnell and win. She has an incredible personal story; she has demonstrated real grassroots support both in Kentucky and nationally; and she is the only candidate who will be able to raise enough money to fight against McConnell’s corporate campaign warchest. Unlike Mitch McConnell, Amy McGrath has actually served our country, and she will never put party before country. We are ALL-IN for Amy McGrath from now until November 3rd, 2020.”
The Ditch Mitch Fund has already begun raising money directly for Amy McGrath. The group’s goals include enlisting its over 40,000 grassroots donors for her campaign. In the hours, weeks, and months ahead, the Ditch Mitch Fund will be raising money directly for McGrath’s campaign to help her share her story and vision with Kentucky voters.
The group spent the past few months working to recruit Amy McGrath to run against McConnell. They launched a Draft Amy McGrath campaign earlier this year that received thousands of donations into a ‘draft fund’ on the fundraising platform ActBlue. Every dollar raised into the ‘draft fund’ will now be immediately transferred to Amy McGrath’s campaign.
The Ditch Mitch Fund, started in October 2018, is a grassroots-funded organization that is solely dedicated to holding Mitch McConnell accountable, supporting his future Democratic opponent, and defeating McConnell once and for all in 2020. To date, the Ditch Mitch Fund has raised over $1.5 million with an average gift of $24.
