Ditch Mitch Fund Raises $2.6 Million in Third Quarter to Defeat Mitch McConnell

The group has now raised more than $4.1 million from 178,000 donations, an average gift of $23

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Ditch Mitch Fund announced that it raised $2.6 million in the third quarter of 2019 to defeat Mitch McConnell and support his Democratic opponent in 2020.

The amount represents a dramatic increase from the second quarter when the group raised $1.1 million. It includes $600,000 raised directly for Amy McGrath’s campaign – the Senate Majority Leader’s chief Democratic opponent.

The Ditch Mitch Fund is a grassroots-funded PAC and was created last October. It has now raised a total of over $4.1 million with more than 178,000 donations from 81,000 unique donors. The group’s overall average gift is $23.

McConnell raised a record-breaking $2.1 million in the first quarter of 2019 and another $3 million in the second quarter.

“Mitch McConnell has never had a group like ours involved in one of his races before,” said Ryan Aquilina, Executive Director of the Ditch Mitch Fund. “We are building a truly grassroots movement, and our momentum is only growing. No amount of corporate or special interest money is going to protect Mitch. Kentucky voters know that Mitch isn’t looking out for them in Washington, and in 2020, they’re ready to send him off into retirement.”

The Ditch Mitch Fund, started in October 2018, is a grassroots-funded organization that is solely dedicated to holding Mitch McConnell accountable, supporting his Democratic opponent, and defeating McConnell once and for all in 2020. To date, the Ditch Mitch Fund has raised over $4.1 million with an average gift of $23.
