Draft Amy McGrath for Senate campaign receives donations from donors in all 50 states in its first 24 hours

As first reported by the Louisville Courier Journal, the Ditch Mitch Fund announced on Monday it was launching a “massive” online fundraising effort to draft former-congressional candidate Amy McGrath to jump into the race against Mitch McConnell for Kentucky’s 2020 Senate race.

After just 24 hours, the grassroots organization now says the draft campaign has already received donations from donors in all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia.

“There is incredible grassroots energy for Amy McGrath to run against Mitch McConnell,” said Ryan Aquilina, the Executive Director of the Ditch Fund and its Ditch Mitch project, the organization behind the effort. “We had one of our best days ever in terms of fundraising, and that proves in no uncertain terms just how much appetite there is for Amy to run and to defeat Mitch McConnell.”

Unlike traditional “nominee funds” that have been popular online in the past, all funds raised from the group’s “draft fund” on ActBlue will be immediately transferred to McGrath’s future campaign as soon as she announces her candidacy.

Draft Amy McGrath and Ditch Mitch are projects of the Ditch Fund – a new and first-of-its-kind grassroots-funded organization that is solely dedicated to holding Mitch McConnell accountable, supporting his future Democratic opponent, and defeating Mitch once and for all in 2020.
