Ditch Mitch Fund Statement Following McConnell Announcing His Campaign Raised Only $2.3 Million Last Quarter

Executive Director Ryan Aquilina: “We send our thoughts and prayers to Mitch’s campaign.”

WASHINGTON, DC – Following Mitch McConnell’s campaign’s announcement that he only raised $2.3 million last quarter, Ditch Mitch Fund Executive Director Ryan Aquilina issued the following statement:

“We send our thoughts and prayers to Mitch’s campaign. Last quarter, Amy McGrath out-raised him more than four-to-one. And even our humble organization, the Ditch Mitch Fund, which didn’t exist 12 months ago, raised $2.6 million last quarter – out-raising McConnell’s special interest funded campaign with grassroots donations and an average gift of just $23. We knew Mitch was in trouble, but we didn’t realize how much.”

“There has never had a group like ours involved in one of Mitch’s races before. We are building a truly grassroots movement, and our momentum is only growing. No amount of corporate or special interest money is going to save Mitch. Kentucky voters know that he isn’t looking out for them in Washington, and in 2020, they’re ready to send McConnell off into retirement.”

The Ditch Mitch Fund, started in October 2018, is a grassroots-funded organization that is solely dedicated to holding Mitch McConnell accountable, supporting his Democratic opponent, and defeating McConnell once and for all in 2020. To date, the Ditch Mitch Fund has raised over $4.1 million with an average gift of $23.
